Dental Technology

Contemporary Family Dentistry is outfitted with state-of-the-art technology for more accurate diagnoses, finer restorations and bigger smile transformations.

CBCT Scan

Cone-Beam Computed Tech

While we love digging into the details, sometimes it's helpful to start with the "big picture." Cone beam scanning is the gold standard for capturing a 3D view of your teeth, mouth, jaw, neck, nose and sinuses. This provides more detailed information (compared to standard X-rays) and allows your dentist to diagnose and plan your treatment more effectively.

Cone beam imaging is also used to:

  • Plan and carry out implant placement procedures

  • Evaluate your jaw and face

  • View a comprehensive image of the head and neck

  • Diagnose tooth decay and other dental problems

  • Diagnose developing infection in earlier stages

  • Plan root canal treatments

  • Analyze and determine the extent of dental and facial trauma

  • Plan and track the progress of orthodontic treatment

  • Visualize abnormal tooth development

  • Evaluate TMJ disorders and any resulting damage

Digital X-Rays

Digital Radiographs

When it comes to your health, every second counts. Digital radiography uses small sensors to capture high-quality images of your teeth and supporting oral structures. So instead of waiting around on film to develop, these images can be generated and viewed instantly on a nearby monitor. Pretty neat, right?

Not only are digital images faster and more comfortable for our patients, but they're also safer. They produce up to 90% less radiation than standard film X-rays, and our dental assistants no longer need to leave the room with a handheld unit. For us, that's a win-win.

Digital images are also used to diagnose a wide range of dental conditions:

  • Developmental abnormalities

  • Unusually positioned tooth roots

  • Fractures in teeth and existing restorations

  • Infections in the tooth nerves and other areas of the mouth

  • Tooth decay

  • Cysts

  • Abscesses

  • Tumors

  • Bone loss

Intraoral Camera

When your dentist needs to examine an area in more detail or a place that's otherwise impossible to reach, we enlist the help of an intraoral camera. This small, pen-shaped device captures high-quality images of your teeth and gums. Because intraoral cameras are easy to maneuver, they're comfortable and can be removed at any time.

We love using this imaging technology to visually explain dental problems to our patients.
